Celebrating the Joy of Reading at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, AFS Jorhat

The Library Department of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, AFS Jorhat organised a National Book Trust (NBT) Book Fair in the school library on 24th and 25th August 2026. The event provided students with a wonderful opportunity to explore a diverse collection of books and experience the joy of browsing through books of their choice.

Students from Classes III to IX visited the book fair class-wise along with their teachers. The library premises came alive with excitement as young readers explored books across different genres, including fiction, adventure, stories, biographies, science, general knowledge, comics, literature and children's books.

The book fair encouraged students to discover new authors, explore different subjects and develop the habit of reading beyond their textbooks. Students enthusiastically browsed through the collections, discussed their favourite books with friends and teachers, and selected books according to their interests.

The event also served as an important platform for promoting reading for pleasure and nurturing a lifelong connection with books. By bringing a wide variety of age-appropriate books within the school environment, the fair helped students see the library not merely as a place for academic resources, but as a space for curiosity, imagination, discovery and learning.

The Library Department sincerely appreciates the cooperation of the school administration, teachers and students in making the two-day book fair a meaningful and engaging reading experience.
